What's been happening in my world...

Well I started what I thought was going to be a great series...Thrift Store Thursday...but it seems since then, I haven't been able to find anything that "I needed" or "I wanted" lately at the thrift store.

We shopped again yesterday hoping to find some great stuff, but unfortunately this week was another bad week.  I'm all for shopping at thrift stores, but let's face it I'm not going to buy just for the sake of showing you something.

In other news I did get some flowers for my Mom for Mother's Day and a couple of baskets for myself.

This first pot I selected for my Mom.  She loves geraniums and straw flowers so I thought this
was perfect for her front porch.  It has a temporary home here on mine until Sunday.

I selected two hanging baskets of red Petunias and Lantana that I am going to transplant into
my cast iron urns.  There is still a chance of frost here for next week, so I'm leaving them in
their original pots until after that.  They will be easier to move onto the porch in case the
temperatures dip too low.

Our house is currently white with blue shutters, so I thought the red would be a perfect compliment.  Hopefully we will be painting the house next month.  We are currently selecting some colors to test out, but we are having some difficulty in finding the perfect shade.  We are also looking at some siding options but the cost difference will be the deciding factor as to whether we paint or re-side the house.  This is our big summer project so we are taking our time to make sure we make the right decision.

Last week, McG and I also took on the project of building a fence to close in the south side of the yard and block off the view of our neighbour's garbage cans.

Here's a look at what our view was "Before"...

And here is the "After" and a side by side...

I've also been busy working on a couple of new gardens that I'm hoping to show you next week.

We have been enjoying some great weather here that has enabled us to work on some of the projects we needed to complete here in the yard. I'm hoping to finish up the wall and posts between the living room and kitchen very soon as well.

For those Mom's that follow along here,  I'm sending wishes for a great Mother's Day this weekend!!

Cheryl
